Quantum Annealing for Transport Optimisation — an Innovate UK collaborative R&D project with STFC's Hartree Centre, formulating last-mile routing, one-way systems and traffic-signal problems as QUBOs and running them on D-Wave annealers, coupled to a live Manchester delivery twin.
Quantum-Enhanced Sustainable Transportation — an SBRI feasibility study with the Hartree Centre and PsiQuantum examining fault-tolerant quantum computing (QAOA on photonic hardware) for transport planning, consulting authorities including TfGM, Oxfordshire County Council and the Liverpool City Region and West Midlands combined authorities.
Simulation and dashboards for 5G radio networks, including real-RIC integration work — the operational-view discipline that shapes how Rhumb products look and behave.
Digital twins of Manchester and Liverpool City Region streetscapes for delivery, traffic and infrastructure scenarios; driving-simulation and sensor work for autonomous-vehicle research.
An optimisation claim you can't watch drive around a faithful model of a real city is a slide, not a result. Everything we ship is demonstrable — usually playable.
We compile problems to a solver-agnostic energy form and let classical, GPU and quantum backends compete on identical instances. We have worked across both quantum paradigms — annealing with D-Wave, fault-tolerant with PsiQuantum — and today the classical and quantum-inspired solvers win. The day that changes, our customers find out first: with benchmarks, not press releases.
Solve logs, honest baselines, visible assumptions. If a number can't be traced to a run, it doesn't go in front of a customer.
